Lisa Lopez

Trial Attorney

Lisa Marie Lopez is an Estate Planning, Probate, and Guardianship attorney at The Gonzalez Law Group, PLLC.  Ms. Lopez is dedicated to helping clients protect their assets and families through thoughtful, customized estate planning and compassionate probate representation.

Originally from Western Springs, Illinois, Lisa earned her undergraduate degree in psychology at the University of Illinois at Chicago before pursuing a career as a licensed real estate broker for her family’s real estate company. Lisa’s interest in law was driven by a desire to make a tangible difference in people’s lives. That calling led her to Houston, Texas, a place she has long admired for its warmth, culture, and sense of community.

While attending law school at South Texas College of Law Houston, Ms. Lopez discovered her passion for estate planning through her participation in the Estate Planning Clinic and further developed her skills and passion in the Probate Clinic. Prior to joining The Gonzalez Law Group, Ms. Lopez gained valuable experience as a law clerk at different firms in Houston that focused on estate planning and probate litigation.  She believes that everyone deserves a well-prepared plan for the future and guidance through the challenges that can accompany the loss of a loved one.

Further, Ms. Lopez’s legal education was distinguished by academic excellence—she earned two CALI Excellence for the Future Awards for her performance in Legal Research and Writing and her Law and Economics Seminar. She also authored a published article in the Florida A&M Law Review titled “An Economic Comparison of Succession Law Systems: Prioritizing Spouses vs. Forced Shares for Children and Proposal for a Standards-Based Approach to Child Disinheritance.”

In her free time, Ms. Lopez enjoys spending time with her family and friends, being involved with her church community, and spending time in nature.
