Located almost 40 miles southwest of Dallas, the Prairieland Detention Center (PDC) is a privately-operated ICE detention facility in Alvarado, Texas. The facility is equipped to house 707 detainees, with a daily average of 688 detainees in 2018. Last year alone, the facility housed over 11,000 detainees, and with the current circumstances surrounding immigration enforcement, it is likely that number will increase in 2019.
