For the past 24 years, Patricia Cantu has been an experienced trial lawyer in the areas of family law, criminal defense, probate and estates. Ms. Cantu is also experienced in assisting clients to register their business organizations through the Secretary State of Texas, including LLC, PC, PA, Partnerships and corporations.
Patricia Cantu was born in Lubbock, Texas to migrant workers, which meant that her younger years included migrating with her family from Texas to California, Ohio and Michigan until the age of 6 years. Her family settled and Ms. Cantu grew up in Falfurrias where she graduated high school and quickly moved to Corpus Christi and obtained a Paralegal Associate degree. Ms. Cantu worked as a legal secretary while she attended Junior College and then moved to San Antonio and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice. In San Antonio, Ms. Cantu worked as a paralegal for law firms that handled family cases, workers compensation cases, personal injury cases, criminal cases, and medical malpractice cases. Ms. Cantu was able to develop her trial skills before even becoming an attorney. Finally, Ms. Cantu moved to Houston to attend Thurgood Marshall School of Law. She graduated law school, passed the bar exam and became licensed to practice law in the State of Texas in March of 2000.
Patricia Cantu’s motto has always been “Listening for Truth”. In fact, Ms. Cantu kept that motto on her business card since day one of practicing law and it allowed her to continually seek justice for her clients. Ms. Cantu vehemently believes that we are all innocent until proven guilty by a court of law and/or jury of our peers. Ms. Cantu also believes that we are all destined to be successful in life and that with the proper training and guidance it will come to fruition.
Until joining the Gonzalez Law Group in August of 2024, Ms. Cantu established and successfully maintained a law practice in and around Houston since March of 2000.
In addition to her educational degrees, Ms. Cantu is a member of the Texas Bar Association, the Houston Bar Association, the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and the Family Law Division of the State Bar Association. Because Ms. Cantu continuously meets her Continuing Legal Education hours always striving to learn and be the best at what she does, she has also earned a membership in the Texas Bar College.
